I’ve said this eleventy million times already – and I’ll say it again, Pink is undoubtedly the most under-rated artist of the past decade and a half. Era after era of smash albums and singles – each of Pink’s efforts have delivered consistently for the past 17 years. Who would have thought she would outlast and outperform her contemporaries Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera?
Thankfully the rebellious icon’s 7th album is almost upon us – ‘Beautiful Trauma‘ arrives October 13th, and follows the massive success of her 2012 Billboard # 1 album ‘The Truth About Love‘. Can’t wait – I’m literally pining for her to salvage this ridiculously mediocre year so far (read ‘Despacito‘).
This era’s already off to an incredible start. Unsurprisingly, the new project’s lead single ‘What About Us‘ is poised to début within the top 5 of the global charts, particularly in the UK Top 40 where the song may land at # 1 this week. Pink was announced as the (well-deserved) recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2017 MTV VMA’s. With days to go for the August 27th ceremony, Pink drops a stirring, politically charged video for ‘What About Us‘ – and I’m effectively destroyed after watching it. The Georgia Hudson directed visual is purposeful Pop done right – Pink stands up for the underdogs and the minorities yet again, whose very lives are threatened by the current political climate of the world. As expected – the video boasts of some incredible choreography as well, courtesy the Goldenboyz. Pink’s moves have been under-rated as well – she’s easily one of the best in the game along with Janet and Beyonce.
Check out Pink effectively cement her status as one of the biggest Pop Icons of this generation with the below clip for ‘What About Us‘ –
