It’s been ten damn years – that’s right, TEN – for fans of R’n’B songstress Tweet (she pre-dates Twitter y’all – for you neophytes wondering what I’m babbling about) who’ve waited rather patiently for a new album from the elusive chanteuse.
Much like her mentor Missy Elliott, the ‘Oops (Oh My)‘ siren had decided that making fans yearn for new music would be the best way to go.
Point noted. Enough already!
The diva has finally unleashed a new single titled ‘Won’t Hurt Me‘ – the first from her long overdue third studio effort tentatively titled ‘Charlene‘. The track is a mellow slice of smooth R’n’B/Soul, with Tweet’s honeyed vocals easily reminding us why she went Platinum with her début effort ‘Southern Hummingbird‘ back in 2002. Gurl can sang! With Queen Janet’s comeback creating waves around the world after she released the gorgeous ‘No Sleeep‘ as the lead single of her new album, a subtle approach targeting the R’n’B/Soul formats seems to be the order of the day.
Glad she’s back! We need a resurrection of good R’n’B – and the likes of Fetty Wap and Silento is not what’s on my mind here.
‘Charlene‘ is Tweet’s first full-length album since her 2005 sophomore effort ‘It’s Me Again‘, and is due for release in 2016.
