Hallelujah Ms Florence Welch!

Already poised to top the Billboard 200 Albums Chart later this week, Florence + The Machine arrives straight at the summit of the Official UK Top 40 Albums Chart this week with her third full-length studio effort – the thoroughly flaw-free ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful‘.

The album thus grants the ‘Dog Days Are Over‘ chanteuse her third consecutive UK # 1 album (her entire output) following 2009’s ‘Lungs‘ and 2011’s ‘Ceremonials‘. Well deserved I say – just give the title track of the album a listen y’all, major major chills! Expect this album to be high up on my year-end top 50 for sure.

The top 5 of the charts also sees new arrivals from Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro with their sophomore effort ‘Act 2‘ which arrives at # 2, Jamie xx’s début effort ‘In Colour‘ at # 3 and veteran act Simply Red’s ‘Big Love‘ at # 4 – his 13th top 10 album on these shores. Ms Taylor Swift rounds off the top 5 with the mega-selling never-say-die  ‘1989‘ – which spends its 31st week inside the top 10 out of its 32 weeks spent on the chart. Already the highest selling album of 2014 with over 6 million plus units sold worldwide, ‘1989‘ shows no signs of slowing down – given the push it received recently with the Kendrick Lamar-assisted fourth single ‘Bad Blood‘ which has topped the Billboard Hot 100 and has peaked on the UK Top 40 at # 4.

Elsewhere on the Top 40 Singles Chart, Jason Derulo commands a second week at the penthouse with his global smash ‘Want To Want Me‘.

The runner-up slot belongs to debutante Natalie La Rose who narrowly misses out of the # 1 spot with her current hit ‘Somebody‘ featuring Jeremih.
