Video Premiere : Tamia’s ‘Sandwich And A Soda’

Canadian R’n’B veteran Tamia, easily one of the most under-rated vocalists in the game, unveils a sultry visual for the mellow and sexy lead single ‘Sandwich And A Soda‘ which previews the diva’s 6th studio album ‘Love Life‘.

Love Life‘ is the ‘So Into You‘ chanteuse’s first effort for Def Jam – and is scheduled for a June 9th release. I’m utterly smitten by the Pop & Oak-produced ‘Sandwich And A Soda’, probably my fave Tamia track ever! It’s a fundamentally flaw-free mid-tempo baby-making extravaganza – what’s not to love about that?

‘If you wanna ride these curves, Hop in your Chevy Nova / And if you gonna drive with nerve, Baby I’m gon’ be your chauffeur / See I can make you feel good love, And when it’s all over / I’mma fluff your pillow baby, Bring you a sandwich and a soda’ – the 6-time Grammy-nominee’s honeyed coos are all that you need to sweat it out!

It’s hard to believe the songstress has been around for more than 17 years – she really is the original elusive chanteuse – and her blessed voice keeps getting better with every album. Her 2012 critically hailed and largely under-rated effort ‘Beautiful Surprise‘ garnered her 2 Grammy nominations – surprisingly she’s yet to win a piece of hardware.

With hit-makers The Dream and Tricky Stewart on board for ‘Love Life‘, lets hope this album gets Tamia the due credit as one of the leading ladies of the genre. It’s not easy for a 90’s R’n’B princess to sustain her position on the higher echelons of the charts these days – Brandy, Monica, Toni Braxton and even the Queen herself, Mary J Blige have all struggled to achieve respectable numbers with their latest albums.
