Jess Glynne, All Time Low Dominate Official UK Top 40 Charts!

Chart-check across the pond y’all!

As per usual, the UK shows the world what’s good about the music scene right now – as America refuses to move beyond the extreme annoyance that is ‘Uptown Funk‘ for an unbelievably monotonous 13 weeks in a row.

Brit songstress Jess Glynne holds the # 1 spot on the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart for a 3rd week in a row with the insanely addictive ‘Hold My Hand‘ – her 3rd number 1 single and 5th top five hit on the charts within just a year! And the 25-year-old has yet to release her début album – which is scheduled to drop sometime in June/July this year. Looking at her streak of hits – Glynne should be a threat to Ms Cheryl Cole, who remains the solo British female vocalist with the most # 1 hits on the charts with 5.

Glynne holds off stiff competition by Nick Jonas who arrives at # 2 with his smash solo effort ‘Jealous‘, as former # 1 ‘King‘ by Years & Years moves up a notch to block the # 3 spot.

Over at the Official UK Top 40 Albums Chart, US Rock act All Time Low score their first ever # 1 album on these shores as their 6th effort ‘Future Hearts‘ debuts at the summit with 19,400 units sold, narrowly beating former # 1 and Brit Awards Critics Choice winner James Bay’s début album ‘Chaos And The Calm‘.

Australian chanteuse Sia’s ‘1000 Forms Of Fear‘ – easily one of my fave albums of 2014 - spends its 27th chart week by slipping a notch to # 6 – undoubtedly, the album has legs. With 3 videos and barely much promo (Sia’s face anyone?), the album still continues to sell steadily all around the world. Take a bow Ms Furler!

Further down at # 10, another album that refuses to slow down – British chanteuse Paloma Faith’s third studio effort  ‘A Perfect Contradiction‘ re-enters the top 10 in its 57th chart week. Her third consecutive album to be certified Double Platinum, ‘A Perfect Contradiction‘ was 2014’s biggest selling album by a female vocalist in the UK – spawning 3 top 10 hits till date, including the # 1 single ‘Changing‘ with Sigma, taken from the Deluxe Edition of the album. It’s unfortunate that the album barely received any acclaim in the US (peaking at # 176 on the Billboard 200), while Australia and the rest of the world has shown much love to Ms Faith.

Check out all the action on the top 10 below – it’s certainly way more exciting than anything on the stagnant Billboard charts.
