Enigmatic Icelandic songstress and genius extraordinaire Bjork’s 8th studio album ‘Vulnicura‘ is quite literally the definition of utter devastation.
The separation from her longtime partner Matthew Barney being the inspiration behind the 49-year-old’s latest effort – it’s easy to see where the devastation comes from. This one’s as raw as a heartbreak album can get – the title itself means the healing of wounds when broken down in Latin.
The elfin chanteuse finally unveils a much-needed visual for the album – and it arrives in the form of the vulnerable ‘Lionsong‘. The Inez and Vinoodh-directed clip is a close-up of Bjork’s beating heart as she tackles domestic trouble in the song (Barney’s literally slaughtered in the lyrics). ‘Should I throw oil on one of his moods?’, she wonders.
The desperation is so easily palpable, and the video is as imaginative as it gets – Bjork style!
