Swifties – and by that I mean 99% of the sane world – rejoice!
America’s Sweetheart Taylor Swift does a Faith Hill post-‘Breathe‘ and a Shania Twain post-‘Come On Over‘ and breaks away from her Country roots on her brand new single ‘Shake It Off‘, which serves as the lead single from her new album ‘1989‘ – her first official Pop album – scheduled for an October 27th release.
The infectious new single is produced by Max Martin and Shellback – the team responsible for some of her biggest hits, and this time around, Tay Tay’s unleashed her wrath on not just her ex boyfriends, but her legion of haters who she chooses to completely annihilate through the song.
The feel-good dorky video for the single is directed by Mark Romanek (Michael and Janet’s legendary ‘Scream‘), and breaks new ground for Taylor – there’s TWERKING INVOLVED!!
Y’all have to watch it to realize that she isn’t the same Taylor anymore! It’s a fun song – and it’s just what you need when you’re surrounded by fakers and heart-breakers who deserve nothing but some slayage! The chorus – it’ll get stuck in your head – says it all,
‘Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off‘
Is the new single one of her best works yet? I don’t think so. But kudos to Swift for progressing into a new phase of her career seamlessly with a song that is invariably posed to be one of the biggest hits of the year already – it’s predicted to sell over 500,000 units by the end of the week, and expect it to go higher. Possibly her second # 1 single after ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘ followed a similar trajectory back in 2012.
Expect ‘1989‘ to create a major splash in October – in case you forgot, Miss Swift’s previously debuted with a million plus sales of her last two albums within the first week itself!
