Songbird Supreme Mariah Carey, aka Billboard Queen/Dictionary Of Chart Positions Of Her Own Singles/ Resident Imperfect Angel/ creator of the South Korean Gaon International Chart Top 10 smash ‘The Art Of Letting Go‘ – has just unveiled the name of her brand new 14th studio album (scheduled for release since 2012) after promising to pull a Beyoncé and releasing the album as a surprise package.
Since the album release date is fixed on the 27th of May (the 34,678th push back of the release date), the only Beyoncé the ‘Triumphant (Get ‘Em)‘ hit-maker (Billboard # 115) pulls here is an album title that (somewhat) sounds similar to Beyoncé’s ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce‘.
After 4 ‘first’ singles and the thunderous performance of the fourth ‘first’ single ‘You’re Mine (Eternal)‘ which roared up the Billboard Charts and peaked at a stellar # 88, Mizz Carey has christened her new album ‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse‘.
‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse’!!?!
The title – blessed be – clearly is the most innovative album title I’ve heard since Fiona Apple’s 1999 classic sophomore album titled ‘When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He’ll Win the Whole Thing ‘fore He Enters the Ring There’s No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might so When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cuz You’ll Know That You’re Right‘.
According to Mariah –
‘On the back cover of this album is a personal treasure. This is my first and only self-portrait. I drew it when I was only 3 1/2, and entitled it ‘Me…I Am Mariah’ Please don’t judge me for such a simplistic title. C’mon, I WAS only 3 1/2. It was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child’s heart before it was ever broken. I kept this drawing private for so long, but because this album is a reflection of some of the peaks and valleys that have made me who I am today, I’ve decided to share it for those of who you actually care and have been here for me through it all. I been through a lot. But I’ve always known me. I am Mariah. Along the way, there’ve been a couple nicknames and I’ve embodied many personas. Lately, they’ve been calling me…the elusive chanteuse.’
I. AM. BEYOND. TEARS y’all! Check out the video with the legendary self-portrait right here :
Miss Mimi has also unveiled the track-list of the album, which includes a plethora of guest vocalists including Wale and Nas, and taking a page out of the Beyonce slay-book, Mariah’s twins, affectionately called Dem Babies are also featured on the album. Clearly, Dem Babies are being prepped for some major chart action with Blue Ivy, Beyoncé’s daughter, who is charting her own course with features on her mother’s album.
The album also features duets with R Kelly and Mary J Blige on the Deluxe Edition – left-overs from Mariah’s unreleased remix album following the Memoirs era. Breaking new ground y’all. The Deluxe Edition cover’s right here –
In somewhat related news, Nicki Minaj has taken to the social networking website Orkut to suddenly unveil the title of her third studio album titled ‘She. She Is A Pig…The Farting Walrus‘. The album is already available for pre-order, and here’s a look at the Deluxe Album cover!
In response, Miss Carey has unveiled the cover of the Official Remixed Deluxe album for ‘Me.’, which is scheduled to drop as a complete and utter surprise anytime. Check it out below -
