Clean Bandit, Bombay Bicycle Club Dominate UK Top 40 Charts!

Time to give the charts across the pond a looksie!

With over an impressive 402,000 digital units sold within just 3 weeks, British electro-fusion quartet Clean Bandit leads the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart for a third consecutive week with their single ‘Rather Be‘ featuring Jess Glynne.

Rather Be‘ remains the highest selling single of 2014 so far, and stays ahead of Pharrell’s former # 1 ‘Happy‘ at # 2, as well DJ Fresh, who’s new single ‘Dibby Dibby Sound‘ featuring Jay Fay and Ms Dynamite charges in at # 3 this week.

Glad to see the Mercury Prize-winning Ms Dynamite back on the charts, that too with the highest charting single of her career. She previously reached # 5 as a lead vocalist with her 2002 single ‘Dy-na-mi-tee‘, and as high as # 4 as a featured vocalist on Katy B’s 2010 single ‘Lights On‘.

A brand new album soon Ms Dynamite? It’s been a decade since her under-performing and under-rated effort ‘Judgement Day‘ hit the sophomore slump and limped in at # 43 on the Official Albums Chart way back in 2005.

Coincidentally, Katy B graces the # 7 spot on the singles chart with her # 5-peaking ‘Crying For No Reason‘, while her sophomore album ‘Little Red‘ – released to rave reviews the day before yesterday – is expected to arrive at the upper regions of the chart next week. ‘Little Red‘ follows the Brit songstress’s Mercury Prize nominated d├ębut ‘On A Mission‘, which arrived at # 2 on the charts and was certified Gold in 2011.

Over at the Official Top 40 Albums Chart, London-based Indie-Rockers Bombay Bicycle Club earns their very first # 1 album with their fourth studio effort ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow‘. All three of their previous releases have been certified Gold, and they previously reached a high of # 6 with their third release ‘A Different Kind Of Fix‘ in 2011.
