And it’s disappointing.
In case you didn’t know, team Britney has been getting it all wrong this era. ‘Britney Jean‘ has limped in at an unthinkable # 4 on the Billboard 200 with a measly 107,000 units sold this week – her lowest sales and chart position till date. The album has spawned approximately zero hits so far. And professional destroyer of all things musically good – Will.I.Am – has made sure Britney’s new album sounds nothing like her stellar discography.
‘Perfume‘ is undoubtedly Britney’s best vocal track in the history of forever – it’s written by Sia y’all. How can it not? My fave song this year – ‘Perfume‘ could have easily been the highlight of her string of massively successful singles. With a Joseph Kahn video lined up (‘Stronger‘, ‘Toxic‘, ‘Womanizer‘) for the song – there was no way the song could bomb.
But of course, team Britney. WHAT’S WRONG WITH Y’ALL??
No promos. No live performances. Nothing!
Her best track in years ended up on the worst album of her career. The Joseph Kahn-directed video – the only saving grace – turned out to be an edited version of the original, with Kahn taking to Twitter to express his displeasure with the final cut.
Apparently, the original version – hailed by Kahn as Britney’s best – was too dark for the general audience.
Well. FCUK. Whatever.
So here we go – Britney Spears’ ‘Perfume‘ video y’all. With Britney just, umm, singing, canoodling, lamenting and getting cozy with her lover . Check it out right here :
