Miley Cyrus Reclaims # 1 Spot From Lorde, Christina Aguilera Enters Top 10 On Billboard Hot 100!

Face it – the year 2013 shall forever be remembered as the year of the twerk, the tongue, and Miley Cyrus.

After initially ruling the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, Miley Cyrus swings back to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with her massive smash ‘Wrecking Ball‘, effectively ending Lorde’s 9-week reign with ‘Royals‘.

Wrecking Ball‘ rises again due to renewed viral activity, a parody video on YouTube by comedian Stephen Kardynal increased the song’s total streams by a massive 137%. The song also receives a push this week from Miley’s performance of the song at the 2013 American Music Award with a giant cat mouthing the words behind her on a screen – but of course. She’s just being Miley y’all.

Lorde’s ‘Royals‘ slips two spots to # 3, while Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘The Monster‘ – the contender for this week’s top spot – stays put at # 2.

Meanwhile, our Bionic Goddess of the Supreme Lotus Miss Christina Aguilera truly seems to be upping her game. Ironically, the diva has not produced a single top 10 hit from her last 2 studio albums, but following Rihanna’s footsteps – Aguilera’s collaborations have landed her a slurry of top 10 smashes lately. This week, her duet with A Great With World ‘Say Something’ – a truly, truly stellar sonic extravaganza – rises to # 10 on the Hot 100 this week. The song becomes her 11th top 10 hit,her second top 10 this year following her collaboration with Pitbull ‘Feel This Moment‘ , and her first as a lead artist since 2007’s ‘Keeps Getting Better‘. The song – and may I just add how gorgeous and restrained Aguilera sounds – benefits from a live performance on the American Music Awards as well.

Over at the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, One Direction scores a winner with their third album ‘Midnight Memories‘, which sold a massive 546,000 units this week to occupy the penthouse. The group thus creates history – they now become the first band since the Monkees in 1967 to have reached # 1 with their first 3 albums.
