Katy Perry, Lorde Arrive At # 1 On UK Top 40 Charts!

KatyPRISM-Deluxe-Version

It’s official y’all – Lorde has taken over the world!

After dominating the Billboard Hot 100 for a cool 4 weeks (and running), the 16-year-old New Zealander fights off stiff competition from the likes of James Arthur and One Republic to blast in at # 1 on the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart with her début single ‘Royals‘.

Praise the Lorde!

Lorde becomes the youngest artist since Billie (remember her? I sneaked out of school to buy ‘Honey To The Bee‘ and listen to it on loop on my endlessly flawless walkman) occupied the penthouse of the official singles chart with her smash ‘Because We Want To‘ at the mighty age of 15 in 1998. Those were the days y’all!

Over at the official albums chart, the tenacious Miss Katy Perry scores an expected # 1 debut with ‘Prism‘ – her third studio album and her second chart topper in the UK. The set prevented pop crooner James Blunt from earning a third # 1 album with his brand new set ‘Moon Landing‘ which arrived at # 2. The set’s lead single ‘Bonfire Heart‘ occupies the # 7 position on the singles chart.
