And the irony of writing this post about Aussie Rapstress Iggy Azalea is that I’m actually in Australia at this very moment, lazing around the insanely amazing city of Melbourne. It’s easy to see why this country captures your heart like no other y’all – I’m in love!
And of course, I’m sampling the hugely successful music scene that this country has to offer while I take a stroll around South Bank next to the Yarra River. It’s really a pity that Australian Pop is possibly one of the most ignored genres of music globally – I still don’t get why artists like Jessica Mauboy haven’t dented the global charts till date.
Thankfully though, Iggy Azalea has decided to end that trend, creating a massive hype (in all the right ways – unlike a certain Mizz Azealia Banks) even before her début project ‘The New Classic‘ has been assigned a release date.
The highly anticipated album has already spawned a bona-fide global hit in the form of ‘Work‘, and now Azalea’s dropped the video for her third single ‘Change Your Life‘ featuring her mentor T.I. – possibly one of her most radio-friendly singles ever.
And this one’s as big as it gets y’all! Iggy ain’t playing this time around, and Nicki Minaj better watch out for her wig!
The Jonas and Francois-directed clip is a sleek and sexy affair, and it’s hard to ignore Azalea’s idol Gwen Stefani’s influence on how Iggy displays her swag – and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The video, shot in Vegas, reminds me of Eve and Gwen’s 2001 classic ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind‘, and Iggy looks totally gorg! Definitely one of her best so far – and possible the song that’ll help Iggy cross over to Pop.
I’m rooting for ‘The New Classic‘, whenever it drops. At least she’s doing stuff instead of spending her day ranting on Twitter like her rival Azealia Banks who really seems to have lost her charm lately.
