Lana Del Rey Scores First Billboard Top 10 Hit, Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ Leads Hot 100 For A 12th Week!

It’s Lana Del Slay y’all – get your pouts on!

Over a year and a half after releasing her massively successful ‘Born To Die‘ (aka the one stop shop for everything depressing in this world), Mizz Lana Del Rey has had approximately zero hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart – save for the # 22-peaking ‘Young And Beautiful‘ from the soundtrack of ‘The Great Gatsby‘ (the gay population updated their Facebook status by the second with every line of the song possible  #LGBTRights #Lana4President).

And now, after a year of being ignored by US radio, Mizz Rey finally scores her very first Billboard top 10 hit as ‘Summertime Sadness‘ – easily one of the best singles off ‘Born To Die‘ – charges up to # 9 this week on the Billboard Hot 100, courtesy of a new remix by Cedric Gervais doing the rounds.

The original is almost 57 trillion times better than the remix, and I honestly don’t understand the hype regarding the new version. But what the hell, Lana finally has a top 10 hit y’all!

As Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines‘ featuring Pharrell and T.I leads the Hot 100 for an astounding 12th week in a row, Katy Perry’s ‘Roar‘ stays put at # 2 with massive increases in airplay as well as streams. The video for ‘Roar‘ is yet to be out, the release of which should push the song up to # 1 very soon.

Miley Cyrus stays put at # 3 with ‘We Can’t Stop‘ – a song that should see a major push on next week’s chart following her insanely controversial performance at the VMA’s this week that literally saw the internet crash. Again, I don’t really understand what the huge deal was, she was just being Miley y’all (reference).

Lady Gaga enters the top 5 with ‘Applause‘ as the highly anticipated video for the single debuted earlier this week (Gaga went Ga-goose) to massive YouTube views as per usual. The song moves up two spots to a new peak of # 4 this week. Apart from Miley, both Gaga and Perry should see a substantial push in their chart positions next week following their much buzzed about performances at the 2013 MTV VMA’s.
