The Civil Wars Debut At # 1 On Billboard 200!

This is as bittersweet as it can get y’all!

When John Paul White and Joy Williams of The Civil Wars announced that they were splitting following ‘internal discord’ while touring, fans and critics alike were left shocked and speechless at the duo’s decision, especially since their d├ębut studio effort ‘Barton Hollow‘ remains one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2011 – and is still selling consistently.

After spending a year and a half on the Billboard 200, ‘Barton Hollow‘ is about to touch the 700,000 sales mark in the US, after yielding 2 coveted Grammy’s earlier this year, and climbing up to a new peak of # 10 on the Billboard 200.

Of course our joy knew no bounds when last month the duo announced that they’ll be releasing one final album including material they had recorded before the split.

This week, the duo’s self-titled sophomore album ‘The Civil Wars‘ roars in at # 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart selling over a whopping 116,000 units with no promo whatsoever, and with no lead single or video heralding the arrival of the album.

Seriously, all I have noticed is barely an interview or two by Joy, while John Paul has literally gone underground and is completely invisible as of now!

Real music y’all – this is what real music is all about. It’ll sell no matter what.

Joy and John, y’all really really need to reconsider your move – your massive league of fans want you back! Your album just debuted at # 1 on the Billboard Charts for crying out loud!
