Are y’all surprised? I’m not!
After Katy Perry’s ‘Roar‘ leaked yesterday (while KatyCats of the world commenced mass hysteria), it was only a matter of hours before the Haus Of Gaga aka Little Monsters aka
neurotic delusional suicidal death-threat inducing fanatics leaked Lady Gaga’s feverishly anticipated new single ‘Applause‘ from her upcoming third studio album ‘Artpop‘.
This is WAR y’all!
‘Applause‘ premièred a few hours ago on iHeartRadio, almost a week prior to the original release date of 19th August 2013, and as per usual, has appeared on every music blog worth its paws.
The first thing you notice about the song? Gaga ain’t playing y’all – especially when the song is straight-up David Bowie-meets-Grace Jones.
The charade is played down by a coupla gazillion notches (one of the main reasons why I did not enjoy her ‘Born This Way‘ era), and Gaga’s brought back a sound that’s fun, club and radio-friendly. Of course, the soaring chorus is all that matters once this one blasts through the speakers, and the synth-heavy pulsating beats are enough to get Gaga’s ‘Artpop‘ party started.
‘Applause‘ might just deliver what ‘Poker Face‘ or ‘Just Dance‘ did back in the day – radio should be warming up to this pretty soon!
Katy Perry’s ‘Roar‘ just got some serious competition, especially since both the singles are going for adds on radio just about now, with simultaneous digital release!
Claws out, paws up peeps!
