Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ Becomes 2013’s Longest Running # 1 Single On Billboard Hot 100!

With a 7th consecutive week at # 1, and showing no signs of slowing down in terms of both sales and airplay, soul-crooner and baby-maker Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines‘ featuring TI and Pharrell becomes 2013’s longest running # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart this week!

Blurred Lines‘ passes Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ ‘Thrift Shop‘ featuring Wanz which spend 6 non-consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100 earlier this year. Concurrently, the song is gunning for another record next week set by none other than supreme diva Mariah Carey for the highest weekly audience for a song. Carey owns the record with 212.2 million audience impressions in a single week for her massive 14-week # 1 single ‘We Belong Together‘ back in 2005. Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines‘ notched up an impression of 197.7 million audience impressions last week, while selling another 340,000 units this week, to top both the Radio Songs as well as the Digital Songs Charts again. The single has sold a massive 3.6 million units in the US till date.

Chances are that Thicke might overtake Carey next week if things keep up at this pace.

Ex-Disney pop princess Miley Cyrus closes up on Thicke as her latest single ‘We Can’t Stop‘ moves up a notch to # 2 this week, matching the chart peak of the pop-chanteuse’s biggest chart hit ‘Party In The USA‘ which similarly peaked at # 2 on the Hot 100 in 2009.

Over at the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta…Holy Grail‘ spends a second week at # 1 with 129,000 units sold, while pop chanteuse Sara Bareilles debuts at # 2 with her third studio album ‘The Blessed Unrest‘, with sales of around 68,000 units. The ‘Love Song‘ vocalist has maintained a steady presence on the charts with her previous album ‘Kaleidoscope Heart‘ debuting at # 1 back in 2010.
