Our fave punk-rock princess Avril Lavigne keeps it light, fun and bratty as she unveils the insanely catchy second single from her highly anticipated as-yet-untitled 5th studio album scheduled for release in September this year.
‘Rock N Roll‘ is the second official single following the success of ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up‘ which peaked at # 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 received a Gold certification by the RIAA, and this one’s a clear winner harking back to the days when she slayed the charts with some of the most addictive songs of her career including ‘Girlfriend‘, ‘My Happy Ending‘ and ‘Sk8r Boi‘.
Lavigne’s sound hasn’t changed much in the decade or so she’s been churning out the hits, and that isn’t exactly been a problem. Much like Pink, Lavigne manages to bring about an edge every time she releases a new project – pretty much slaying any competition in the game.
All her eras have been dominated by massive singles that have propelled her album sales to dizzying heights. And looks like the Max Martin-produced ‘Rock N Roll‘ with its utterly massive chorus and stomping chants is all set to bring Lavigne back to the upper echelons of the charts as far as her singles are concerned.
We’ve missed her there since she sky-rocketed to # 1 with ‘Girlfriend‘ way back in 2007, and her ‘Goodbye Lullaby‘ era was rather short-lived with the # 11 peaking lead single ‘What The Hell‘ being her only legitimate hit from the album.
