Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ Debuts Atop UK Top 40, Knocks Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta…Holy Grail’ Off # 1!


American smooth-crooner Robin Thicke earns his very first UK # 1 album following his 5-week dominance of the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart with ‘Blurred Lines‘ featuring Pharrell and TI.

Blurred Lines‘, Thicke’s 6th studio album, roars in at # 1 on the Official UK Top 40 Albums Chart this week, knocking off Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta..Holy Grail‘ to # 2, and becoming only his second album to place itself on the UK charts. His first and peak placement came in the form of the # 30 peaking ‘The Evolution Of Robin Thicke‘ which was released in 2007.

A double bonanza for Thicke comes in the form of his lead single ‘Blurred Lines‘ featuring Pharrell and TI crossing the 1 million sales mark in the UK, thus becoming only the 137th single to do so in the history of the UK charts! The song slips down a notch to # 2 this week after a 5-week non-consecutive reign at # 1.

Over at the UK Top 40 Singles Chart, Swedish DJ Avicii’s new single ‘Wake Me Up‘ arrives at # 1 with a massive 267,000 units sold this week, easily becoming the year’s fastest selling single in the UK.
