Flaw-free Nu-Soul/Neo-Funk chanteuse Janelle Monae’s sophomore album ‘The Electric Lady‘ is, without a doubt, one of THE most anticipated albums of the year.
For starters, the lead single ‘Q.U.E.E.N‘ features the Queen Of Neo-Soul and songstress supreme Erykah Badu herself. As if that wasn’t reason enough, collaborations with Prince and Miguel have found a place in the final track-list of the album, and I for one, am excited to the point of being epileptic. Old school Soul/Funk rules my world, FYI.
The feverishly anticipated effort has finally been allotted a release date, and after a 3-year wait (her stunning début extravaganza ‘The ArchAndroid‘ was released in 2010) Mizz Monae’s fans are ready to commence mass hysteria as ‘The Electric Lady‘ is all set to drop on September 10th.
CANNOT. EFFING. WAIT.
Until then, Janelle’s keeping us happy and over-excited by premiering her second single ‘Dance Apocalyptic‘ from ‘The Electric Lady‘, and this funky upbeat number is a high-energy blend of Neo-Soul/Funk/Dance – a tried and tested route she took earlier in 2010 with her breakthrough single ‘Tightrope‘ as well as the incredible ‘Dance Or Die‘ (my fave number by Janelle so far) from her début album.
I’m totally feeling this one.
