Robin Thicke Ascends To # 1 On Billboard Hot 100 With ‘Blurred Lines’!

After conquering the UK, serial panty dropper, R’n’B smooth crooner and overall awesomeness personified Robin Thicke FINALLY earns his first ever Billboard # 1 single as ‘Blurred Lines‘ featuring TI and Pharrell vaults from # 6 to # 1 this week on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart!

The baby-making funk-soul extravaganza displaces ‘Can’t Hold Us‘ by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton after a 5-week reign from the penthouse, while concurrently charting at # 1 on the Digital Songs Chart for a second week in a row (315,000 units downloaded) as well as the Hot R’n’B/Hip Hop Songs Chart – his third on the chart following the 11-week reign of ‘Lost Without U‘ in 2007 and the 2-week reign of ‘Sex Therapy‘ in 2010.

It’s an invasion of Disney princesses in the lower half of the top 10, and looks like nobody’s in a mood to take any prisoners. Except for position # 10, where Icona Pop stays put with their monster hit ‘I Love It‘ featuring Charlie XCX, everything from # 8 to # 11 reeks of Disney princesses gone wild.

Early last month, Demi Lovato had raced up the top 10 with ‘Heart Attack‘, and now it’s Selena Gomez who leads the Disney brigade  – as ‘Come And Get It‘ moves down one spot to # 8 this week – and remains her biggest hit on the charts till date.

Following Gomez and Lovato, Ariana Grande returns to the top 10 with her début smash ‘The Way‘ featuring Mac Miller, reaching a new peak of # 9.

And the reigning queen of everything Disney, a certain Miss Miley Cyrus, makes a massive splash just outside the top 10 as her highly anticipated new single ‘We Can’t Stop‘ blasts in at # 11 after selling 214,000 downloads in the past week.

Over at the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Rock act Queens Of The Stone Age earn their first ever # 1 album as “..Like Clockwork‘ arrives at the penthouse with just over 91,000 units sold this week.
