Emeli Sande, The Justice Collective Score Christmas # 1′s On UK Top 40!

For Emeli Sande, 2012 has been ONE BIG CHRISTMAS PARTY y’all!

After releasing undoubtedly one of the best albums of 2012 in February this year, Sande’s been on a relentless rampage of both the UK Top 40 Albums as well as the Singles Chart. Rather unsurprising.

The Scottish chanteuse debuted at # 1 with ‘Our Version Of Events‘, her highly anticipated début album, which went on to become the highest selling album in the UK this year, leapfrogging ahead of Adele’s ‘21‘ (y’all do realize the sheer power of that achievement right?).

In its 45th week on the albums chart, the quadruple-platinum ‘Our Version Of Events‘, after spawning 6 top 10 hits including 2 # 1 singles, rises up to # 1 for a 6th non-consecutive week, selling an insane 178,000 units, taking its total sales to 1.32 million units in the UK alone! Incredible. But definitely not surprising.

What is surprising though, is the fact that she’s been nominated for approximately zero Grammys this year. Really, what exactly are you guys in the Grammy committee on? Cuz it’s affected your hearing, or probably your brain. Disgusting.

Either way, the numbers and chart positions speak for itself, and reflects what Sande truly deserves! And a coveted Christmas # 1 is precisely what she needed to cap off a truly insane year that saw her win the Brit Critic’s Choice Award as well! Go Sande!

Over at the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart, The Justice Collective, comprising of a bevy of superstars ranging from Sir Paul McCartney, Mel C, Paloma Faith, Beverly Knight, Robbie Williams among others soar in at # 1 with their cover of Kelly Gordon’s 1969 hit, ‘He Ain’t Heavy…He’s My Brother‘, selling 269,000 units this week. All proceeds from the song, which is a tribute to the Hillsborough tragedy, the worst stadium-related tragedy in British history where 96 people were crushed to death, go to the affected families who are in the middle of a legal battle.
