Alicia Keys Unveils Powerful Video For New Single ‘Brand New Me’

Earlier today, songstress supreme Alicia Keys unveiled a new video for the second single ‘Brand New Me‘ off her 5th studio album ‘Girl On Fire‘.

My reaction?

MAJOR CHILLS.

Firstly, the woman looks better than she’s ever had over the past 12 years she’s been relentlessly ruling the game. Taking a cue from the album, she’s the inferno version of herself these days.

Resurrecting r’n’b has pretty much been her domain, and Mizz Keys has, quite flawlessly, delivered with each album. And with every song on ‘Girl On Fire‘, she’s kept it raw and real – the usual when it comes to a Keys album.

Brand New Me‘ is an empowering anthem about freeing yourself from the past, letting go and rediscovering yourself. Yes, everybody and their mama have written a song about this particular subject, but then again, no one quite does it like Mizz Keys y’all.

The soaring vocals take you back to the same raw power we witnessed when Keys debuted with her Grammy winning # 1 smash ‘Fallin” back in 2001. This time around, she’s only gotten better. ‘If you were worth a while, You’d be happy to see me smile, I’m not expecting sorry, I’m too busy finding myself‘ – she defiantly declares.

With ‘Girl On Fire‘ debuting at # 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart last week, her 5th # 1 album on these shores, there’s no doubt about the fact that Mizz Keys is still on top of her game. Precisely why she taunts towards the end of the song –

‘Don’t be surprised, oh see? You look surprised!’
