Robbie Williams Earns 14th UK # 1 Single, Calvin Harris Debuts Atop Albums Chart!

Call this a comeback with style y’all! 17-time Brit Award winner and the best selling solo artist in British music history Robbie Williams roars in at # 1 on the UK Top 40 Singles Chart with his first # 1 single in 8 years, as ‘Candy‘ launches at the penthouse with sales of a staggering 137,000 singles this week in the UK alone!

Candy‘ previews the superstar’s 9th solo studio album ‘Take The Crown‘ which releases today, the 5th of November – and becomes the ‘Rock DJ‘ crooner’s 7th solo # 1 hit, and 14th # 1 overall including his hits with Take That, thus tying him with band mate Gary Barlow (a co-writer on ‘Candy‘) and legend Cliff Richard, and behind only the members of The Beetles as solo artists with the most # 1’s on the UK Top 40 Singles Chart.

With over 70 million records sold worldwide, each of Robbie’s solo studio albums, except for 2009’s ‘Reality Killed The Video Star‘ have reached # 1 on the UK Top 40 Albums Chart. Two of his greatest hits compilations have also launched at the penthouse, taking his total number of # 1 albums in the UK to 9. ‘Candy‘ is Williams’ first # 1 hit since 2004’s ‘Radio‘.

Over at the UK Top 40 Albums Chart, Scottish DJ and chart staple Calvin Harris arrives at # 1 with ‘18 Months‘, his second chart topper here since 2009’s ‘Ready For The Weekend‘. His former # 1 collaboration with Florence Welch  ‘Sweet Nothing‘ slips 3 spots to # 6 on the singles chart this week.

Flaw-free chart legend Kylie Minogue arrives at # 2 with ‘The Abbey Road Sessions‘, a collection of reworked hits including the lush ‘Flower‘ – thus earning the songstress supreme her 14th top 10 album in the UK. The diminutive diva previously launched at # 1 with her last studio album ‘Aphrodite‘ in 2010.
