Cuz we-EEEEEE, are nevur evur EVVURR…getting back together!
The poor schmuck who’s the object of Swift’s rejection in the above song must be shitting bricks right now y’all. As if ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘ becoming her first Billboard # 1 single wasn’t a resounding slap enough, the irresponsibly successful Taylor Swift’s 4th studio album ‘Red‘ arrives at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with massive first week sales of 1.208 million copies – thus becoming her third Billboard # 1 album, and her second to arrive with first week sales of over a million units!
Moral of the story – nevur evur EVURRR hurt or cheat on Tay Tay.
And instead of smirking and assuming that Mizz Swift here’s serving up some more diabetico-pop-country mush for her latest record, grow up and give the album a try, and be pleasantly surprised. You’re very welcome.
‘Red‘ earns the highest first week sales for an album in over a decade, since potty-mouth supreme Eminem’s 2002 album ‘The Eminem Show‘ arrived at # 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with sales of 1.322 million units.
Swift also becomes the only female artist to have two successive albums début at # 1 with over a million units in first week sales. Her previous set ‘Speak Now‘ arrived with 1.047 million units in 2010.
Swift also boasts of the second largest start by a female artist in history, behind Britney Spears’ sophomore extravaganza ‘Oops! I Did It Again‘ which blasted in at # 1 with sales of 1.319 million units in 2000. The last album to cross 1 million units in first week sales was of course the unparalleled Lady Gargoylicious with her epic ‘Born This Way‘ which arrived with 1.108 million units in its first week, with a sizable chunk of the albums sold for 99 cents on Amazon.com. Mizz Swift here though, has a happier bank account than Mother Monster – as there were no deep discounts on ‘Red‘, and the Target special deluxe edition of the album with 3 additional songs raked up record sales for the retailer – 396,000 copies of the album sold.
‘Red‘ is arguably Taylor’s most diverse album to date, and undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best album of the year. With its first week sales alone, the album is the third biggest selling album of the year behind Adele’s ‘21‘ (4.114 million units sold this year) and One Direction’s ‘Up All Night‘ (1.316 million units). And with ‘Red‘ projected to sell over 300,000 units next week, the album will easily outsell ‘Up All Night‘ as the year’s second highest selling album, and will possibly lock itself in a race for # 1 with ‘21‘.
SLAYLOR SWIFT Y’ALL.
I cannot get enough of the album. It’s fun, it’s honest, and Swift rightfully deserves her status as one of the most celebrated artists of this generation. If there’s anybody who can step into goddess Shania Twain’s boots, it’s Taylor Swift.
