Pink’s ‘The Truth About Love’ Debuts At # 1, ‘Gangnam Style’ Gallops Up Billboard Charts!

HALLELUJAH!

Can you believe that the impossibly amazing Pink’s stellar career, spanning over 12 years, did not boast of a single # 1 album on the Billboard Charts? At times I honestly can’t, with American Radio and the Billboard Charts. All that changes today though, as the chart titan, one of the biggest selling and arguably one of the most bankable artists of the past decade roars in at # 1 with her 6th studio album, ‘The Truth About Love‘, selling over 280,000 units this week in the US – her FIRST EVER # 1 ALBUM Y’ALL!! Pink’s first week sales are the third highest for this year, behind Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe‘ (374,000) and Madonna’s ‘MDNA‘ (359,000), and concurrently her single ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)‘ stays put at # 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, while topping the Radio Songs Chart for another week. That extrapolates to the fact that Mizz Pink has THE most played song on US Radio this week! And her brand new single ‘Try‘ storms in at # 50, and promotions for the song haven’t even begun yet! Take a bow y’all – the woman deserves every bit of her success!

Pink comfortably charges ahead of efforts by Kanye West’s ‘Cruel Summer‘ compilation which arrives at # 2 with 205,000 units, the Killers’ ‘Battle Born‘ which arrives at # 3 with 113,000 units and Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Kiss‘ which arrives at # 6 with sales of over 46,000 units this week in the US.

Over at the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, Maroon 5’s ‘One More Night‘ stays put at # 1 for a second week in a row, but it’s the worldwide craze ‘Gangnam Style‘ by K-Pop phenomenon Psy that steals Maroon 5’s thunder on the charts by galloping up to # 2 within just 3 weeks after its d├ębut! ‘Gangnam Style‘ sold an insane 301,000 downloads, topping the Digital Songs Chart and finally dethroning Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘ after a 5-week reign. At this rate, the US should witness their first ever K-Pop # 1 on the Hot 100, unless Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds‘, Ke$sha’s ‘Die Young‘ or Taylor Swift’s ‘Begin Again‘ get in the away. All 3 tracks by the reigning princesses of pop have registered massive sales after debuting on iTunes yesterday. MAY-JAH chart battle ahead people!

The highest new entry on the hot 100 is by none other than Mizz Christina Aguilera, who debuts at # 34 with ‘Your Body‘, the first single from her feverishly anticipated new album ‘Lotus‘, due November 13th. The track sold an impressive 103,000 downloads this week, and is surging up on the airplay charts already. This should be making quite a splash on the charts in the coming weeks, and it’s her strongest effort in almost half a decade.
