I’ve grown up listening to her, and have been mesmerized by her uncanny ability to relentlessly unleash some of the most addictive grooves in the history of EVER. She’s pushed the envelope and revolutionized the music video, and with each album – dating back to her genre-bending 1997 début ‘Supa Dupa Fly‘ – she’s delivered.
Hip-hop icon Missy Elliott has finally unveiled her highly anticipated new singles ‘9th Inning‘ and ‘Triple Threat‘ featuring her long time collaborator and friend Timbaland – and my body is very VERY ready for this. Both singles preview her upcoming 7th studio album ‘Block Party‘ – her first since 2005’s ‘The Cookbook‘.
While ‘Triple Threat‘ is more of a synthesizer and drum based Timbaland production where Missy raps about being a triple threat – rapper, dancer and singer, it’s ‘9th Inning‘ that packs a punch like no other. Bass heavy beats that scream Missy – it’s a triumphant return to form for the rap maestra! “Now I’m in the 9th inning, thought I fell off, I ain’t quite finish,” Missy ferociously spits. I gotta give it to her – there’s no one quite like Missy Elliott when it comes to real hip-hop. Both the singles have been digitally released to iTunes today. I CANNOT WAIT!! Missy’s back y’all!!
