Taylor Swift Back At # 1 On Billboard Hot 100, Matchbox Twenty Earns First # 1 Album!

WE..EEEEEE..ARE NEVER EVERR EVUUURRRR…GETTING BA-ACK TOGETHER!! WE..EEEEEEEEEEEEE…

Oh! Umm, pardon me y’all. I was having a moment here you know. How many of you still do NOT have this stuck in your head like gum on the soles of your shoes?? That’s Taylor Swift for you, an unstoppable machine with a flawless capacity to convert her broken-hearted-blues into MONEY. Selling another 284,000 digital units this week, crowning the Billboard Digital Songs Chart for a 4th consecutive week since the song’s d├ębut, Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘ returns to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a 3rd week after being dethroned last week by the obnoxiously irritating ‘Whistle‘ by Flo Rida. Boosted by her show-concluding performance of the song, Swift now boasts of the longest stay at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by a country artist since 1980, 32 years after Kenny Rogers led the Hot 100 for 6 weeks with ‘Lady‘.

Last week’s # 1 ‘Whistle‘ meanwhile slips down to # 3 this week, while Maroon 5’s latest single ‘One More Night‘ moves up to # 2, matching the peak of ‘Payphone‘ featuring Wiz Khalifa that narrowly missed the # 1 spot irrespective of spending the majority of its chart run in the top 3.

Pop titan Pink roars up 5 spots to # 6 this week with ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)‘, a new peak position for the first single from her upcoming album ‘The Truth About Love‘ releasing on September 18th. The single saw a boost in sales following Pink’s performance of the song at the 2012 MTV VMA’s – crossing the 1 million mark in the US this week.

Over at the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, rock-pop royalties Matchbox Twenty earn their first ever # 1 album as ‘North‘ – their first full length studio album in a decade – arrives at the penthouse with sales of 95,000 units this week. The band had previously peaked at # 3 in 2007 with ‘Exile On Mainstream‘, their greatest hits package, which sold an impressive 131,000 units it its first week.
