Songstress Supreme Mizz Alicia Keys has remained one of the most bankable, reliable and intriguing R’n’B vocalist of the past decade. For the last 12 years since her 12 million plus selling genre-bending Billboard # 1 début ‘Songs In A Minor‘, the 31-year-old R’n’B/Soul/Neo-Soul chanteuse has relentlessly slayed with every album and single release, every live performance and every tour – with sales in excess of 40 million albums worldwide, and an incredible 14 Grammy Awards to her credit. With every release, Alicia ALWAYS delivers. So of course, when the news of her 5th studio album ‘Girl On Fire‘ releasing on the 27th of November reached my over-eager ears, I reacted in a very mature way like most fans are generally expected to. I flailed like it’s nobody’s business, shaking and seizing all the while, and then I squealed for a bit.
It’s a new Alicia Keys album y’all…BOW THE FACK DOWN!
And along with the release date, the ever flaw-free Mizz Keys has unveiled the artwork for the new album. May I just say –
OMFG??? FIERCE YA’LL, JUST FIERCE!!
Alicia’s already given us a taste of what to expect from the album by releasing ‘New Day‘, an upbeat classic R’n’B jam that is already one of my fave Alicia songs EVER. My body cannot possibly wait for ‘Girl On Fire‘. Shaking and seizing again y’all! ‘Girl On Fire‘ follows 2009’s ‘Element Of Freedom‘ – her first album to miss the # 1 spot in the US (coming in at # 2 with a massive 417,000 units in first week sales behind Susan Boyle’s record-breaking début ‘I Dreamed A Dream‘), and her first album to hit the # 1 spot in the UK – which sold over an impressive 4 million units worldwide. Be sure to check out Alicia unveil a brand new song live at the 2012 MTV VMA’s on the 6th of September. Until then, check out ‘New Day‘ right here :
