Flo Rida’s ‘Whistle’ Dethrones Carly Rae Jepsen From # 1 On Billboard Hot 100!

American Radio – truly at the forefront of everything subtle, classy and artistic! A poignant and lyrically rich song about blowing stuff (whistles etc.) by the very enigmatic Flo Rida ends the 9 week-long domination by Canadian chanteuse Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe‘ from the # 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart this week. Path-breaking life-altering lines in the song?

‘and I’m betting you like girls that give love to girls and stroke your little ego’.

Shivering uncontrollably at the sheer magnanimity of these lines here y’all. CAN YOU EVER? Nay, not quite.

Whistle‘ is Flo Rida’s 3rd Billboard Hot 100 # 1 single following 2008’s ‘Low‘ and 2009’s ‘Right Round‘ featuring Ke$ha. The single also tops the Hot Digital Songs Chart this week, selling over 217,000 downloads. Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ slips down to # 3 this week, while the ethereal Ellie Goulding stays put at # 2 with ‘Lights‘ – a song way worthy of the # 1 spot than ‘Whistle‘. ‘Lights‘ crowns the Radio Songs Chart, thus earning the honor of being the most played song in the US this week. A shot at # 1 next week maybe? Unless Flo Rida keeps tooting his whistle, or Taylor Swift comes smashing through with a brand new song about a totally unheard of concept by her – bashing her ex-boyfriend – incredulously and cleverly titled ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘. I’m died.

Over at the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, the ‘Now 43‘ compilation album arrives at # 1 selling 111,000 units this week, thus becoming the 16th # 1 of the ‘Now That’s What I Call Music‘ franchise. But it’s Elle Varner’s d├ębut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect‘ that needs a special mention here. The album sold almost double the initial predicted number, zooming in at a higher than expected # 4 position selling 33,000 units this week in the US. I happen to have a copy of the album, and I can safely say this one’s gonna end up very very high on my year-end charts.
