Rihanna, Drake Lead 2012 MTV VMA Nominations!

It’s that time of the year again folks! Time for Kanye West’s annual monkey act. Time for Lady Gargoyle to shock the galaxy with her latest outfit. Time for Nicki Minaj to wear something, anything. That, and the 2012 MTV VMA’s are just around the corner! Nasal-fest Rihanna and Drake lead this year’s nominations with 5 nods each, while last year’s big winner Mizz Katy Perry follows up with 4. Pottymouth extraordinaire Nicki Minaj, MIA, Beyoncé, Jay – Z, Frank Ocean and Coldplay are vying for 3 Moonmen each.

A surprise omission? Lady Gaga has not received a single nomination at this year’s VMA’s, while she was clearly a fan favorite last year. While I wasn’t too surprised by her being snubbed at the Grammy’s and the AMA’s – this was quite unexpected, especially since the VMA’s have always been her domain.

A surprise inclusion? MIA’s ‘Bad Girls‘ was undoubtedly one of this year’s best videos – and I’m totally thrilled with the video receiving 3 nods, including the prestigious Video Of The Year nod, where she competes with Katy Perry, Rihanna, Drake and Gotye.

The 2012 MTV VMA’s will air on Sunday, 6th of September, 8 p.m ET.
