Adele’s ’21’ Surpasses Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ As The Longest Charting Album By A Woman On Billboard Top 10!

SLAYDELE. ADELEGEND. RECORD-BREAKERDELE.

Another record broken. BADA BING!! And it’s never an easy record to break when the album in question is none other than Rock Goddess Alanis Morissette’s 1995 masterpiece ‘Jagged Little Pill‘. Till date, ‘Jagged Little Pill‘ has sold an incredible 33 million units worldwide, making it the biggest selling album of the 90’s, and one of the biggest selling albums in the history of EVER. The 16-times Platinum album spent a monster 72 weeks within the top 10 of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, making it the longest charting album within the top 10 by a female vocalist (the longest running album being the soundtrack to ‘The Sound Of Music‘). Until this week – when a certain Miss Adele’s sophomore album ‘21‘ surpassed that time frame and spent an incredible 73 weeks in a row within the top 10 of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart! On its 73rd week on the chart, the album sold 35,000 copies placing it at # 8, thus inching closer to the 10 million mark in the US, making it eligible for the coveted Diamond certification by the RIAA. The album has yet to exit the top 10 ever since it debuted 73 weeks ago. What a feat indeed! Bravo woman!
