Stuck In My Head : Gloriana’s ‘(Kissed You) Good Night’

Alright ALRIGHT I admit it. There’s nothing better than a good ol’ fashioned Country ballad – I’m a bona fide sucker for such music. In my defense, I’ve been single and available and reasonably good-looking etc for quite a while now – a guy can daydream to a ballad right? #CivilRights

Gloriana’s 2009’s self titled début album left no doubt about the fact that the band had a long way to go. Debuting at # 3 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with the album, the band, comprising of brothers Tom Gossin and Mike Gossin along with Rachel Reinert made quite a splash that year – winning an American Music Award for Breakthrough Artist Of The Year. The band’s highly anticipated second studio album ‘A Thousand Miles Left Behind‘ is scheduled for release on July 31st, and the second single from the album, ‘(Kissed You) Good Night‘ is already surging up the charts as I blog, placing at # 6 on the Billboard Country Songs Chart this week – their highest charting single ever, and their first top 10 hit.

The song’s all about romance. Bada Bing! Before you smirk – you  oughta know that a good night kiss is really REALLY important – it’s nerve wrecking, innocent, cute and usually insane levels of awkward. That’s precisely what the band sings about. Everything here sounds a little Lady Antebellum-ish, but I do not mind at all. It’s a great song, good lyrics and a befitting video. Tom and Reinert’s soaring vocals blend in well, and the melody’s all that matters. Ideal for a rainy day – preferably with someone cute to snuggle up to.
