Carly Rae Jepsen, Chris Brown Top Billboard Charts ; Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’ Creates History!

Move out from # 1 maybe? Naah! Mizz Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe‘ is an insane addiction y’all! For a 5th week in a row, the song tops the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, keeping Maroon 5’s ‘Payphone‘ feat. Wiz Khalifa stuck at # 2 for yet another week. ‘Call Me Maybe‘ additionally tops the Billboard Digital Songs Chart for an 8th week, selling another 244,000 digital downloads this week – and at this rate it’s safe to assume the song will cross 5 million downloads in the US very soon indeed. With 8 weeks atop the Digital Songs Chart – Jepsen is within a week of equaling the one and only Gwen Stefani’s record set for the longest stay at # 1 on the Digital Songs Chart by a solo female vocalist – 9 weeks at # 1 with her first solo # 1 single, the now-iconic ‘Hollaback Girl‘.

Meanwhile the ever-so-gracious Nicki Pottymouth Minaj has just added another, er, wig – to her already impressive wig-crown collection, as ‘Starships‘ places at # 9 on the Hot 100 this week. ‘Starships‘ has now spent an astounding 21 weeks within the top 10 ever since it debuted at # 9 on March 3rd, 2012 – granting Mizz Minaj the record for the longest stay on the top 10 for a song that debuted within the top 10 and continued staying there. ‘Starships‘ thus surpasses the Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta Feeling‘ which spent 20 weeks within the top 10, including a whopping 14 weeks at # 1, after its arrival. Yay Nicki! If only the rest of them Femcees would stop bickering and bitching, we could have seen a lot more action within the top 10, you hear that Lil’ Kim? Thankfully Missy and Eve are gonna be back with new albums later this year. Hallelujah.

Over at the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Chris Brown earns his 2nd # 1 album as ‘Fortune‘ debuts at the penthouse with 134,000 copies sold. A barrage of albums make a return to the top 10 this week, including Katy Perry’s never-ending candy-overloaded saga ‘Teenage Dream‘ (which zooms up to # 2 from # 21), Gotye’s ‘Making Mirrors‘, Fun.’s ‘Some Nights‘ and the Black Keys’ ‘El Camino‘ – all of which were available for 99 cents for a day only at Amazon.com.
