Mizz Nelly Furtado is all set to unleash her 4th studio album ‘The Spirit Indestructible‘ on the 18th of September, 2012 – her first English album since 2006’s global # 1 ‘Loose‘. Are we excited? YASSSSSS!!
The ‘I’m Like A Bird‘ songstress just unveiled the cover artwork for the new album, and I can’t WAIT to get my hands on a copy asap. Although I was initially a little skeptical about the extra-nasal first single ‘Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)‘, the song’s sorta grown on me (especially the addictive ‘The Bigger The Better The Bigger The Better‘ chant). And if the new album is a reflection of her past work, there’s bound to be a coupla classic songs on the album apart from the ones released as singles (her massively under-rated 2003 sophomore album ‘Folklore‘ being a prime example).
I wouldn’t write this album off at all – rather it might just have the potential to topple its predecessor ‘Loose‘, which has so far crossed sales of a massive 10 million copies worldwide – one of the best selling albums of the decade – spawning a handful of # 1 singles all around the world. The right selection of singles and promo is all that is needed here. Nelly is a bankable force to be reckoned with – and the hoopla surrounding her return to mainstream music after a gap of more than 6 years bears ample testimony to that.
