Adele Sweeps Billboard Music Awards With 12 Wins, LMFAO Follows Up With 6!

Wait..are you surprised that Mizz Adelegend has literally slayed your faves yet again? Then you must be living under the world’s biggest rock (how’s the weather there?). The 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas last night were an Adele affair, as per usual, where the chart titan collected a cool 12 awards that will probably sit somewhere in the corner of her over-sized awards-closet next to her Grammy’s and American Music Awards and MTV VMA’s and Brits. The only thing missing is probably the Nobel Prize, although I wouldn’t be surprised if she added one of those soonishly to her ever-increasing collection, considering that she’s just about 2 albums old. Oh Adele! How we loveth thou. Adele’s wins included Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album among others.

SkyBlu and RedFoo of LMFAO have a lot to party about, as they walked away with 6 wins for the night, including a win for Hot 100 Song Of The Year for their smash ‘Party Rock Anthem‘, after they kicked off the celebrations for the night by opening the show with a medley of their Hot 100 toppers ‘Party Rock Anthem‘ and ‘Sexy And I Know It‘ along with their third single ‘Sorry For Party Rocking‘.

The other big wins of the night went to Coldplay and Lil’ Wayne, who won 4 awards each, followed by Casting Crowns, Lady Gaga and Jason Aldean with 2 awards each.

The ceremony had over 15 live performances with everybody from Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kelly Clarkson, The Wanted and Justin Bieber bringing down the house with their latest singles. Usher slayed with a performance of his latest single ‘Scream‘ with 20 back-up dancers, while Katy Perry unveiled her stunning new single ‘Wide Awake‘ with suspended dancers whizzing across the smoke and cloud filled set.

It was also a night of tributes, and rightfully so. It’s been an incredibly sad year for music this year, with the loss of some of the most prolific artists of all time within a span of months. Jordin Sparks and John Legend gave a rousing tribute to the late Whitney, who was later honored with the Millennium Award, accepted by her daughter Bobbi Kristina.

Natasha Bedingfiled stepped in to pay a tribute to the Queen Of Disco, Donna Summer, who recently lost her battle with lung cancer at the age of 63.
