Throwback Tuesday : TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’

It’s a crazy, sexy, cool Tuesday y’all, which means it’s time for some TLC! Give it up for one of THE most influential and iconic trio’s of all time, as Tionne ‘T-Boz‘ Watkins, the late Lisa ‘Left Eye‘ Lopez and Rozonda ‘Chilli‘ Thomas grace our Throwback Tuesday post today!

Taken from their 11-times-Platinum genre-bending 1994 sophomore album ‘CrazySexyCool‘, ‘Waterfalls‘ was TLC’s second Billboard # 1 single (after ‘Creep‘ from the same album reached the penthouse earlier), and is the trio’s most successful single to date. A thoroughly amazing old-school Soul jam, the video as well as the lyrics were nothing short of path-breaking. Socially conscious and introspective, dealing with sensitive issues like drug abuse and unsafe sex, ‘Waterfalls‘ became an anthem for a generation of fans like me, who’ve grown up listening to TLC’s music. The F. Gary Gray-directed video received an insane amount of airplay on MTV, and eventually went on to spend 7 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, winning 4 MTV VMA’s including Video Of The Year.

CrazySexyCool‘ eventually sold over a massive 22 million copies worldwide, and won the group 2 Grammy Awards, including Best R’n’B Album, and Best R’n’B Performance By A Duo Or Group with vocals. Watch the iconic video right here :
