Fun. And Janelle Monae Top Billboard Hot 100 For A 3rd Consecutive Week With ‘We Are Young’

For a 3rd week in a row, NYC-based indie band Fun. tops the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their début single ‘We Are Young‘ featuring Janelle Monae. The song sold another 349,000 digital downloads this week and has crossed the 2 million sales mark in the US so far. Pretty damn impressive for a début single!

Kelly Clarkson stays put at # 2 for another week with her former # 1 ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)‘, her 3rd # 1 on the Hot 100 since her début single ‘A Moment Like This‘ vaulted straight to # 1 in 2002.  Although not as amazing as her classic and flawless 2005 album ‘Breakaway‘, Kelly’s album ‘Stronger‘ has already notched up two top 10 hits, and I was actually surprised to see ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)‘ being received so well on radio.

Boy-band mania has officially begun in he US again. With One Direction creating history by debuting at # 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with ‘Up All Night‘, British boy-band The Wanted inch closer to topping the Hot 100, as ‘Glad You Came‘ moves up a notch to # 3, while Adele’s ‘Set Fire To The Rain‘ slips down to # 4.

Nicki Minaj vaults to # 6 from # 9 with ‘Starships‘, and sits pretty at # 7 as well on David Guetta’s ‘Turn Me On‘, thus being the only artist this week with 2 singles within the top 10.

Flo Rida moves up from # 12 to # 9 this week with ‘Wild Ones‘ featuring Sia, thus making this Sia’s first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. I had expected her UK # 1 collaboration with David Guetta ‘Titanium‘ to chart higher in the US though. It’s probably both Guetta and Sia’s best work till date.

The Billboard top 10 singles this week are :

1. We Are Young – Fun. featuring Janelle Monae

2. Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) – Kelly Clarkson

3. Glad You Came – The Wanted
