Madonna doesn’t really know how to stop now does she? That’s right, the Queen of Pop REMAINS the Queen of Pop. In spite of the general reaction of her fans, the critics have lauded her feverishly anticipated 12th studio album ‘MDNA‘ set for a March 26th release (it’s almost here…YAYNESS!). And after extending her reign over the Billboard Hot 100 with the # 10 peaking ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A, Madonna is all set to extend her reign on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart as the track will dethrone the current # 1, ‘F*** U Betta‘ by Neon Hitch next week. The result? This will be Madonna’s 41st # 1 single on the Dance Charts, and by comparison, her closest competitor is Janet Jackson with 19 # 1 singles. Clearly, Madonna knows how to make us dance!
Madonna’s reign started with the 5-week reign of ‘Holiday/Lucky Star‘ in 1983, and she dominated for the next 3 decades with her last # 1 on the chart being ‘Celebration‘ in 2009. With ‘Give Me All Your Luvin”, Madonna also equals her biggest rival and fellow Queen Of Pop Janet Jackson’s record of topping the Dance Charts for 4 consecutive decades. Janet topped the charts in 2010 with ‘Make Me‘, and her first # 1 was 1986’s ‘When I Think Of You‘, which was also the first of her 10 Billboard Hot 100 # 1’s, taken from her breakthrough album ‘Control‘, thus earning her chart toppers in the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and 10’s.
Can’t wait for ‘MDNA‘? Neither can I, cuz we L-U-V Madonna!
