Fiona Apple Unveils Really Long-ish New Album Title

Reclusive alternative chanteuse Fiona Apple unveiled the name of her much delayed and highly anticipated new album, her first since 2005’s ‘Extraordinary Machine‘. And the title has all of 23 words in it. No big deal, considering her sophomore album had 90 words in its title. Fiona’s latest album is titled –

“The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do.”

Think that’s long? Then you might wanna revisit Fiona’s 1999 masterpiece ‘When The Pawn..‘, the entire title of which was,

‘When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight
And he’ll win the whole thing ‘fore he enters the ring
There’s no body to batter when your mind is your might
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land
And if you fall it won’t matter, cause you’ll know that you’re right’

The Idler Wheel..‘ is scheduled for a June release, and is definitely on my list of must-buy albums this year. In case you’re not acquainted with Fiona’s music, try her 1996 Grammy winning début, the triple platinum certified ‘Tidal‘. It has been hailed by Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly as one of the greatest albums of the last 25 years, and is easily one of my fave albums of all time.
