Fun. And Janelle Monae Top Billboard Hot 100 With ‘We Are Young’, Gotye, Nicki Minaj Rise Up Top 10!

For the first time in 10 years, a rock band reaches the # 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with their début single as Fun.’s ‘We Are Young‘ featuring Janelle Monae moves up 2 spots to # 1 dethroning Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)‘ after 3 non-consecutive weeks at # 1. The last band to top the Hot 100 with a début single was Nickelback with ‘How You Remind Me‘ back in 2001-02. The instantly addictive single benefits from being featured on Chevrolet’s Sonic ad that was featured during the Super Bowl this year, as well as a performance by the Glee cast. The song sold 302,000 digital downloads to top the Digital Songs Chart, and also received Airplay Gainer honors on this week’s chart.

Adele’s ‘Set Fire To The Rain‘ slides down a spot to # 3, but remains the most played song on American Radio, spending another week atop the Radio Airplay charts.

Boybands are certainly back with a vengeance, as The Wanted’s début single ‘Glad You Came‘ moves up a notch to # 4. Looks like we’re in for a domination by the boys pretty soon, considering the song’s rising on both the airplay and digital charts. It sold 206, 000 digital singles this week to reach # 2 on the Digital Songs Chart this week. And we experience the power of the Glee cast yet again, as this song got a major boost last week after the cast covered it.

Harajuku Barbie Nicki Minaj flies up four spots to # 6 with her latest single ‘Starships‘, and the song seems to have hit the spot with fans all around the world. The single already entered the top 5 of the UK Top 40 Singles Chart earlier this week.

Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg move up 2 spots with ‘Young, Wild And Free‘ featuring Bruno Mars.

Gotye FINALLY conquers the Billboard Hot 100 after topping almost every other chart on the planet as ‘Somebody That I Used To Know‘ featuring Kimbra enters the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, soaring from # 16 to # 9.
