It’s been 4 years since R’n’B Royalty Brandy released the most under-rated album of her entire career, ‘Human‘ back in 2008. With a career spanning over 18 years (dating back to her quadruple-platinum certified self titled début album in 1994), Brandy has far surpassed the longevity of most vocalists in the game with her cleverly crafted and heart-felt singles and genre bending albums, most of which were instrumental in shaping the sound of R’n’B/Soul of the 90’s.
And a new Brandy album in the works has generated the same interest among her worldwide legion of fans and music lovers like it used to back in the day. Especially after Brandy’s collaboration with Monica on ‘It All Belongs To Me‘, 14 years after they collaborated on the ground-breaking single ‘The Boy Is Mine‘ which went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for 13 weeks.
Brandy finally unveiled the name of her highly anticipated 6th studio album scheduled for a June release. And the name of Brandy’s new album is,
A very significant album name indeed, considering the fact that 2/11 is Brandy’s birthday, as well as the day her idol and mentor Whitney Houston tragically passed away.
Brandy always delivers when it comes to her music, and she keeps it real and honest with each of her albums. Precisely why fans are highly anticipating her return after a 4-year hiatus. Watch Brandy talk about the making of the first single ‘It All Belongs To Me‘ with Monica.
The song’s already taken off on radio, and with both the vocalists scheduled to release albums simultaneously, it feels like 1998 all over again, when both the divas released their solo sophomore albums with ‘The Boy Is Mine‘ as the lead single.
Brandy’s ‘Never Say Never‘ went on to be certified 5 times platinum in the US, while Monica’s ‘The Boy Is Mine‘ went triple-platinum. Both albums made it to the top 10 of the Billboard 200, and both Brandy and Monica went on to top the Hot 100 again with their solo singles (‘Have You Ever‘ by Brandy and ‘The First Night‘ and ‘Angel Of Mine‘ by Monica).
Can’t wait for Brandy’s ‘Two/Eleven‘ and Monica’s ‘New Life‘. It’s good to see both the ladies keeping it real and fun as far as music is concerned.
