As predicted earlier by our very amazingly up-to-date and adorbz blog, Mizz Katilicious Perry storms in at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her brand new single ‘Part Of Me‘ from her not-so-brand-new album ‘Teenage Dream : The Complete Confection‘. The single sold over 411,000 downloads after Katy performed the song live at the Grammy awards last week. It also becomes the first song in almost a year to début at # 1, the last one being Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way‘, that similarly debuted at # 1 following Gaga’s hatching-out-of-an-egg Grammy performance. ‘Part Of Me‘ becomes Katy’s 7th Billboard # 1 single, and the first # 1 single from the repackaged edition of ‘Teenage Dream‘, which is not counted as a part of the original album.
Chart titan Adele creates history yet again on the Billboard Hot 100 by becoming the first woman to place 3 titles within the top 10 as a lead singer, as following her stupendous Grammy haul, ‘Set Fire To The Rain‘, ‘Rolling In The Deep‘ and ‘Someone Like You‘ place at # 2, # 5 and # 7 respectively, selling a combined 709,000 digital copies last week.
The late Whitney Houston moved up 4 places this week to # 3 with her former 14 week # 1 1992 single ‘I Will Always Love You‘, as the track sold a whopping 367,000 digital copies last week following her tragic death.
Our fave potty-mouth extraordinaire Mizz Nicki Minaj debuts within the top 10 of the Hot 100 for the first time as her brand new single ‘Starships‘ storms in at # 9 following her controversial and confusing Grammy performance of ‘Roman Holiday‘ last week.
