Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ Feat. Kimbra Tops UK Top 40

We’ve basically been blogging about Australian singer/songwriter Gotye’s insanely successful single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ featuring New Zealand chanteuse Kimbra since forever. Already a # 1 hit in 12 countries, including being certified an astounding 8 times Platinum in Australia, the song finally manages to top the UK Top 40 Singles Chart this week, pushing fellow Australian songstress Sia and David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ to # 2. A well deserved # 1 for Gotye, and it’s about time the rest of the world warmed up to this incredible song from his 3rd studio album ‘Making Mirrors’.

Will-i-am sees a # 3 debut of his single ‘T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)’ featuring the unlikely combination of Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger.

Jessie J remains a non-mover at # 4 with her former # 1 single ‘Domino’. My fave song by Jessie so far, the song’s bidding for a top 5 spot later this week on the Billboard Hot 100 where it moved up to # 6 last week with a bullet, i.e with increased sales and airplay. Her debut album ‘Who You Are‘ completes a whopping 50 weeks on the UK Top 40 Albums Chart this week and moves down 1 spot to # 7.

Over at the UK Top 40 Albums Chart, Lana Del Rey commands a second week at # 1 with her debut extravaganza ‘Born To Die’.

British rapper Maveric Sabre sees his debut album ‘Lonely Are The Brave’ enter the UK Top 40 Albums Chart at # 2, while living legend Sir Paul McCartney debuts at # 3 with his new album ‘Kisses On The Bottom’.

Veteran Hard Rock band Van Halen sees a top 10 debut for their 12th studio album as ‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ enters the chart at # 6.
