Missy Elliott Returning In June With ‘Block Party’, My Life Is Meaningful Again.

In what comes as a piece of news that has caused me to uncontrollably shiver, shake, cry, moan, howl etc., the incomparable flaw-free game changing pioneering singer/songwriter/rapstress/producer/inspiration/legend Mizz Missy Elliott has announced that her first album after a 7 year hiatus, ‘Block Party’ will see a June 2012 release!

7 years, no, 7 insanely long years without a Missy Elliott album. Is there anything more tragic? Not quite. After 2005’s stunning masterpiece ‘The Cookbook’, which debuted at # 2 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned one of the biggest hits of the year as well as of Missy’s career, the Ciara assisted ‘Lose Control’, fans of Missy had to be satisfied with an occasional appearance of the MC on singles and albums by Ciara, Monica, Keyshia Cole etc.

Missy also revealed in an interview with People magazine in June last year that she was suffering from Grave’s Disease, an auto-immune disorder of the thyroid gland:

“I’m 30 pounds lighter because I’ve been exercising. My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months. [But] you live with it for the rest of your life.”

Missy’s long-time friend, collaborator and fellow megastar Timbaland told MTV that both their albums will be launched in summer.

“Me and Missy are both coming out with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June. Right now, we’re just preparing to get both our videos, our first singles shot at the same time. We want to do it as a movement.”

Missy’s slowly making her presence felt again, with her recent appearances on Katy Perry’s ‘Last Friday Night‘ (remixed), Demi Lovato’s ‘All Night Long‘ and J. Cole’s ‘Nobody’s Perfect‘. All I can say is..
