ZOMGTalk’s Fave Viral Video Of 2011: 8-Year-Old Sophia Grace Covers ‘Super Bass’!

There are so many things that I’m thankful for this festive season y’all, and Nicki Minaj happens to be one of them (that’s right guys, potty-mouthed venom spewing rappers with more alter egos than anybody you’ll ever know¬†are totally my thing). The plethora of ridiculously hilarious facial expressions she exhibits on a regular basis is reason enough. And then there is ‘Super Bass‘ aka the greatest song evurrr.

There’s no question about the fact that Nicki’s ‘Super Bass‘ was nothing short of a worldwide craze in 2011, and everybody from Taylor Swift to Selena Gomez to Karmin to your bearded aunt covered the song (if you’ve turned on a radio and didn’t hear ‘Super Bass‘, then your radio probably wasn’t plugged to the wall). But when 8-year-old Sophia Grace Brownlee and her 5-year-old cousin Rosie belted out the entire song including it’s super-twisty rap-rhymes wearing pink ballerina outfits looking more adorbz than anything you could ever imagine, how can you NOT turn into a giant pile of mush? And you thought you were the talented one as a kid? EPIC FAIL.

Thankfully, we live in a society that loves to share, and 27 million YouTube views (yay social media!) later, the entire world ‘boom badoom boom‘ -ed together in cuteness when Ellen DeGeneres invited these ridiculously talented pooshiewooshies to her show, and surprised them by bringing out Mizz Nicki Minaj herself (awww)! For once, our resident potty-mouth extraordinaire was rendered speechless! And how cuteful was it to see Nicki offering to take the kids out shopping and advising them to stay in school? Venom-spewing vixen with a heart of gold! I’m shrieking in utter glee!!

I can tell y’all from personal experiences that ‘Super Bass’ is probably the most difficult song to cover EVER. I’d rather not discuss the shenanigans I demonstrated while I unsuccessfully tried to howl my way through the song. And to have Sophie demonstrate the swag and look SO cuddle-worthy AND sing every word of the song (apart from the expletives that were conveniently removed) just defied all modern laws of amazingness! SO SO CUTE!

Definitely my fave viral video this year, and certainly ahead of the iconic Rebecca Black’s epic tribute to the humble calendar ‘Friday‘.
