Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ Tops Billboard Hot 100, Scotty McCreery Creates Chart History

Chart titan Adele’s ‘Someone Like You‘ sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a 3rd non-consecutive week, while Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Moves Like Jagger‘ settle for the runner-up spot for another week. Foster The People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ remains at # 3 for 7 weeks now, and it’s probably the most unfortunate song in the top 10 right now to have ‘Someone Like You‘ and ‘Moves Like Jagger‘ sitting ahead of it and refusing to budge. Adele’s never-ending reign seems to be fueled by release of the official video for ‘Someone Like You‘ (finally!).

On the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, 18-year-old American Idol Winner Scottie McCreey makes Billboard Chart history as he becomes the youngest male artist, as well as the first country artist to start at # 1 with a d├ębut album, as ‘Clear As Day‘ bows atop the charts with 197,000 units sold.

Funny cuz he’s one of the few male artists from American Idol to reach the top. Where have all the men gone? When we think American Idol, it’s always Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson and Jordan Sparks that have maintained their presence. Apart from Daughtry and Adam Lambert, we don’t get to see much of the other bearers of XY chromosomes.
