Think Sara Bareilles meets Regina Spektor meets Carole King. It’s been ages since I enjoyed a good fun pop song, especially when the song’s backbone is the piano. Vanessa Carlton was probably one of the best in that genre, and now I see every bit of the same spark and more in New York based singer-songwriter Rachel Platten. Check out Rachel’s new single ‘1,000 Ships‘ from her début album ‘Be Here‘.
It’s a great song, the lyrics are good with no hint of anything remotely cheesy, the melodies are fantastic, and her slightly husky voice fits just about perfectly with the accompanying piano. The song’s just started charting in the US, and I think this one will have a long chart run. Give it a listen y’all, and gimme your feedback. It’s time Adele found someone to keep her company.
